This hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean. We were delighted to find an ocean view from our room and stunning views from the lounge and pool areas. The pool looked so inviting although being February we didn't have the nerve to try it out. The breakfast was superb with an amazing choice. The staff were excellent. The adjoining restaurant had a large selection of dished to choose from and again the staff were friendly and efficient. There's plenty of parking on site which is always a bonus. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to and from Funchal and there are plenty of local buses passing regularly. Funchal is a 10 minute drive away should you have a hire car.

The only down side was that the hotel does not provide tea / coffee making facilities in your room. You may want to make sure to pack a travel kettle if you like your morning tea / coffee.

I liked the very friendly reception when we arrived and the continued help with arranging anything we requested with in reason. The breakfast alone is worth coming back for as was the excellent food served up in the restaurant, again here the service was excellent. The general splendour of the gardens was a big surprise as this was my first visit to Madeira but not my last. The swimming pool area was very pleasant but a little too cold for early March, look forward to coming back in May, June or July. The hotel parking was very useful as was the car hire arrange for us by the hotel staff.

Dislikes were very few but I did find the mattress on our bed a little too firm for my back, a few seances of massage from your in house masseur helped. The only other observation was the distance from the hotel to the centre of Funchal was a little inconvenient.

One of the best four star hotels we have stayed at.Ideal location overlooking Funchal with an excellent restaurant with reasonable prices and varied menu list.The staff were polite and indeed helpful.Hotel had excellent pool and terraces for relaxation

The addition of a third bed in the room restricted movement in the room provided.
